Decorating the bands help in many ways. First it helps mommy and daddy become more attached to the band making it easier for them to adjust and be proud of the band being worn. Second it gives them a non clinical look and allows for the babies to be more approachable by inquisitive people, and that allows for a chance to educate others. We had so much fun decorating and thinking up new themes for his bands. The first band we did with rub on transfers from the craft store. We cut out what we wanted and then carefully applied them to the clean band. Once in place we used two coats of Mod Podge lettine each coat dry in between. You can get it at the craft stores too. We reapplied a coat of Mod Podge about every 4 weeks and this kept everything in great shape. The scrapbooking area is full of rub ons and stickers that work well on the bands. The summer band we did with scrapbooking stickers, picking and choosing each item and places them in thier spots. Again when all was set we applied four coats of Mod Podge letting it dry in between each because the stickers are thicker. When we want to remove or change things we just wipe the band down with alcohol a couple times and then scratch or peel away the stickers or rubons. Once all are off we again wipe the band with alcohol to remove any residue or left over Mod Podge. For band number 3 we used an adhesive backed velum printer paper and scanned in images to the computer that we wanted to print. This allows you to be able to use anything you can print out on the computer. You MUST spray the images with a matte finish sealer for artwork before applying the Mod Podge. If you don't the Mod Podge dissolves the ink and ruins the picture. Once the spray is dry, cut out stick on and then Mod Podge a couple of coats. The velum is not always great at sticking so use a touch of Mod Podge if necessary to get all the edges down.
